What drew me to Anthropic was the rare combination of “we think this technology might be incredibly dangerous” and “we're going to build it anyway, but carefully.” That energy resonates.

For now, know that I think about these things more than is probably healthy for someone who also needs to ship code.
I'll write about consequentialism, virtue ethics, and how they apply to AI development. I'll reference Rawls and probably mispronounce Ubuntu philosophy in my head while typing about it. The important thing is that I care about this stuff enough to dedicate an entire section of my portfolio to it.
The essays linked below are real, though. Those I actually wrote. Well, I wrote them with Claude watching over my shoulder, which is its own kind of ethical question.
Alignment is the reason I want to work at Anthropic and not just any AI company. I'll write something genuinely insightful here about why safety isn't a constraint on capability but a prerequisite for it. That line is good, actually -- I might keep that one.
In the meantime, please know that I can talk about RLHF, constitutional AI, and mechanistic interpretability at length. At parties. To people who did not ask.
